The Curse Is Over...Which Curse Though?

Gonna see how this goes. I am joining this game already in progress.

Which game?

Did you really just ask that?

If I must explain, then I will. It is Game 7 of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. Neither team has won in more than 50 years (for the Cubs it has been more than 100 years). One of the team will have a "curse" lifted. So now I join this game in the bottom of the 5th inning and give you a bit of a look into my thoughts as the game goes on.

Here it goes.

Bottom 5th
Pitching change for the Cubs who are currently winning 5-1. It's Lester coming in. Jon Lester? The starting pitcher? Interesting call, but I guess it is the last game of the season no matter what. No surprise that the Cubs are doing anything and everything to keep their lead. Let's be honest, they really need to life their curse. Lester's first batter faced and it is an infield hit and an error putting two runners in scoring position. Not what I expected with Lester on the mound.

Wild pitch! Two Indians player score. Lead cut to 5-3.

Top 6th
David Ross homers to center field!!! Nothing says retribution like homering after letting that wild pitch get by last inning...although the wild pitch let two score and Ross' home run was only one run. Cubs lead 6-3.

Bottom 7th
Time to start thinking about a series MVP. I think if the Indians win, Andrew Miller has lost his status as MVP. It would take an amazing offensive something which would solidify a MVP for whoever produces. If the Cubs win, it seems as though Russell has been decent for the series though he has been relatively quiet in Game 7.

*As a side note, I have not watched any of these games (the exception is a little of Game 1 while I was on vacation) though I have listened to as much as I can on ESPN Radio.*

Bottom 8th
Jon Lester with his World Series experience is doing some work!! Aroldis Chapman though is coming in with only four defensive outs needed for a World Series Championship. My excitement level just sky-rocketed. I guess I should tear my eyes away from my fantasy basketball team and pay attention to the history that is about to be made.

Another Cubs pitching change leading to another Indians score. Jose Ramirez brings the Indians closer. Score is now 6-4. Maybe the Cubs shouldn't change pitchers. It always leads to runs...and not by their own team.

RAJAI DAVIS TIES THE GAME!!! A two-run home run off of Chapman (arguably one of the best relievers in the MLB). The Cubs are losing it and so are the Indians' fans....just in different ways.

Top 9th
For as exciting as this game is...and has become...it is kinda taking forever. I mean, Hayward (of the Cubs) just made it to 3rd base, but it does feel like it's taking a very long time.

Bottom 9th
Chapman is now only throwing sliders. This is a sign that he is tired. If pitching is so important, and if I am hearing that many pitchers are warming up in the bullpen, then why are the Cubs keeping Chapman in....granted he did just get a strikeout, but still.

Welcome to EXTRA INNINGS...

...and...

.....Welcome to a rain delay.

Ya know, I wrote the title of this post prior to this delay but now it seems rather validated. My tired eyes may not allow me to remain awake for the rest of the game so if I am your source for sports news then first of all, thank you. Second, there may be other better sources. And third, I apologize. I shall await to hear the outcome when I wake up on the flip side.

And as of now, I still don't know which curse is over.
